Meet The Family

Kristin

Hi!  I’m Kristin.  Once upon a time, I was an engineer.  However, I never had a passion for that career and was just steered towards it because I was good at math and science.  I would often spend my days sitting at my desk and dreaming of life outside of that cubical.  A life where I didn’t drop off my children every morning to go to work.  One day I made that dream come true and left the 9-5 job behind to be at home more with my children. But once I was home, my dreams turned into places beyond my home. I dreamed of places I wanted to see and adventures I wanted to take my children on.  I was born with a travel bug and with more flexibility in my schedule, that bug became more free and fed to grow.

One of my dreams was showing the kids all 50 states before they leave the nest.  After several road trips and adventures over a number of years, We accomplished that goal in 2021

Now my dreams have grown into a whole big world waiting to explore.

Mike

Mike puts in long hard hours of work out in the heat and cold every day.  While working, his dreams aren’t of travel, but of fishing.  Bass fishing is his drive and passion.  He’s more of a homebody and didn’t acquire the same travel bug that I did.  In’ fact, it took me more than 10 years to get him on a plane with me.  But now he has become more acclimated to travel and does enjoy joining along in a few travel adventures throughout the year when he’s able to escape work.

Gunnar

Gunnar is my best travel buddy!  He is 18 years old and a senior in High School.  He loves watching and playing sports, his favorite being baseball.  Gunnar inherited a travel bug from me.  You’ll find that he loves exploring new places and has a passion for photography.  I can always count on him to get up and go on an adventure with me.

When traveling we go out of our way in search of lighthouses and ball parks for this kid.  He has an inherent interest in history and visiting historical places.  He plans to attend the University of Michigan – Dearborn in the fall to study Anthropology.

Charlee

Charlee is our spunky 15 year old, 9th grader.  She is a perfect balance between princess and tom boy.  Charlee can be soft and sweet or rough and tough.  She’s a Disney and sports fanatic.  You’ll find that she is a real people person warming hearts and making friends wherever she goes.  I attribute a lot of that to being blessed with an extra chromosome.

She too missed the big bite of the travel bug and is perfectly content standing next to her dad casting a fishing line into the water all day.

When traveling we specifically seek out carousels for this girl.  She’s checked off riding quite a few over the years.
